Ms. Freyer's Facts - Here's what's going on in room 109 for the week of November 27, 2017!
Upcoming Events:
* December 5 - Israel's Birthday
* December 14 - La Posada
* December 21 - Winter Assembly (information to follow)
* December 22 - City Project Presentation; City Planners and Architects Celebration (information to follow)
* December 28 - Advik's Birthday

Yesterday, room 109 transformed into Chez Freyer, a fine dining experience complete with candlelight and classical music. Much like at a chef's tasting at a restaurant, students 'tasted' different genres of fiction and got to experience little 'bites' of our fiction feast!
What We Are Learning Next Week!
Reading: This week, we will learn about cause and effect relationships. Readers understand that in-text events happen (effects), along with the reason why they happen (causes). When students recognize this relationship, comprehension is increased.
Math: We will begin topic 5. Topic 5 focuses on applying strategies to achieve fluency with multiplication and division facts within 100. For the past several units, students have learned conceptually what it means to multiple and divide - now we will start working on our quick fact recall! The topic 5 test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, December 8.

Students DAILY use the site in class to do a quick assignment, so hopefully more students are starting to feel comfortable using the website!
Writing: This week we will focus on descriptive writing and using lots of adjectives!
Social Studies: This week, students will begin working on the BIG THIRD GRADE CITY PROJECT!

This is a solely in-school, group project. Students will work in cooperative groups to take all of their knowledge about urban, rural, suburban, land features, laws, government, etc - to create a brand new city or community. Students will create laws, a blueprint, and eventually - a large scale model of their city.

Supplies needed: Students are encouraged to bring in EMPTY boxes (crackers, cereal, tissue,) or empty paper towel/toilet paper tubes.

We will share our finished products with parents and school members on Friday, December 22!
