Concordia Language Villages student scholarships
The Swiss Benevolent Society of Chicago (SBS) encourages you to identify deserving students who would profit from a German, French or Italian language immersion experience at the Concordia Language Villages in Minnesota. The SBS has provided scholarships to over 200 students over the past 15 years. They are pleased that they can offer one-week scholarships to young people in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin during the summer of 2018. This is an AMAZING opportunity for students, encourage your kids to apply.
The application for one-week session at the Concordia Language Villages is available as a pdf-download on-line at http://sbschicago.org/ (https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__sbschicago.org_&d=Dw...) under "Education".

Dear LaSalle Community:
Our next LSC meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Immediately following the LSC meeting will be the LSC Candidate Forum which we hope can begin by 6:00 pm. The LSC Candidate Forum is an opportunity to listen to and ask questions of the Candidates running for LaSalle's LSC (Local School Council).
LSC elections are held every two years. There are six parent representative positions, and two community representative positions up for election by the LaSalle Community. Also, the teachers select two teacher representatives, and the non-teacher staff selects one staff representative. The LSC's primary responsibilities include:
1. Approving how school funds and resources are allocated
2. Developing and monitoring the annual School Improvement Plan
3. Evaluating and selecting the school's principal
The election will be held on April 18, 2018,which is also report card pick-up day. Candidates can also submit campaign material to the office for distribution by 3:00 pm on April 10, 2018.
I also want to remind everyone that we could still use more volunteers to participate in the Alumni Committee chaired by LSC Community Representative and LaSalle Alum, Steve McClellan (firstname.lastname@example.org (mailto:email@example.com) ), and the Building Committee chaired by LSC Parent Representative, Keith Thomas (firstname.lastname@example.org (mailto:email@example.com) ). Please reach out to Steve and Keith respectively if you are willing to help out.
We look forward to seeing you at the LSC meeting and the candidate forum.
Rob Schnitz - LSC Chairperson
