STOCK YOUR WINE FRIDGE
Once again this year we need your help with the wine raffle. Please consider donating a bottle of fine wine or soliciting a local vendor to donate a bottle. We are collecting wines, with a minimum bottle value of $30 and that represent our World Language Programs, French, Spanish, and Italian. This is an opportunity for all families to contribute to our fundraising efforts.

Please contact Valerie to arrange donation. She will be collecting them during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up from school.

Even easier, you can also purchase a bottle through the vendor listed below, the vendor will properly store the bottle(s) until the auction and you can purchase selections over the phone.

LaSalle Language Academy 2016-2017 Fine Arts Residency!
This year, our school-wide arts residency “Shakespeare Live!” was inspired by the celebrations around the world over the past year honoring Shakespeare on the 400^th anniversary of his death. The residency will include live performances and hands-on workshops with two Chicago theater groups - Chicago Youth Shakespeare and Q Brothers.

The events will kick-off on Friday, March 17^th with age-appropriate performances by Chicago Youth Shakespeare’s Ensemble of talented high school students, and continue the following 2 weeks with hands-on workshops geared for grade-level groups.

K-1^st graders will learn 15^th Century dance, mask-making and character discovery; 2-3^rd graders will work on creative writing and performance; and 4-5^th graders will focus on devised theater and ensemble performance. 6-8^th graders will work through adapting a Shakespeare scene into rap as a group with Q Brothers.

Scholarships Available for World Language Learning

In addition to assistance for families in financial need (applications closed for this year), there are also multiple other language-specific scholarships available:

Many LaSalle students have attended these camps and they always come back with tales of their fantastic experiences.

The SBS of Chicago offers multiple scholarships for a one week program at Concordia Language Villages summer immersion camps in beautiful northern Minnesota. Application deadline is March 31, and the application is really reasonable. Student winners who want to extend their stay to a two week program have the option of paying the difference. Please encourage your most passionate students to toss their berets into the ring. The application form is on their website:

Support the Geoghegan Family

Many thanks to so many of you who have helped, and continue to help as the Geoghegan family works hard to get back on your feet. For those of you who knew Beth well, you know how much the LaSalle family meant to her and how confident she was that we would continue to support her husband and children after she was gone. You have driven the kids to and from school, provided meals and much needed financial donations.

I know it has been a few months, but the Geoghegan family can still use our help and support. Please take a moment to sign up to bring in dinner for the family at the link below. There is nothing like the strength of this community to come together to take care of our own.

Thank you all,

Beth
